Publishing Policies and ethics

SIES Journal of Management (SIESJOM) adheres to the following publishing policies, as recommended by the members of the Editorial and Advisory Board:

  1. Peer Review Policy:

SIESJOM follows a double-blind peer review system, where the identities of authors and reviewers are kept confidential. Submitted manuscripts are treated as confidential and not shared outside of the journal. The peer review process typically takes 16-20 weeks. The steps involved in the peer review system are as follows:

    • Step 1: Submission and Acknowledgement to the Author: Upon manuscript submission, authors receive an acknowledgement from the journal. A reference number is assigned for tracking purposes. If the editor determines that the manuscript does not align with the journal's objectives, it may be rejected at this stage.
    • Step 2: Selection of Reviewers: After the acknowledgement, the editor assigns two reviewers to assess the manuscript. The reviewers' identities remain confidential.
    • Step 3: Reviewers' Comments: Reviewers provide their comments on the manuscript along with the Manuscript Evaluation Form (MEF). The editor expresses gratitude
    • to the reviewers for their feedback.
    • Step 4: Decision on the Manuscript: The editor communicates the decision based on the reviewers' comments. The decision can fall into three categories:
      • Reject: Manuscript is rejected with a copy of the reviewers' comments. A single negative review, agreed upon by the editor, is sufficient for rejection.
      • Revise: If reviewers request modifications, the editor asks for revisions based on their comments. Acceptance is contingent upon satisfactory revisions. Upon acceptance, the corresponding author receives a copyright form.
      • Accept: The editor accepts the manuscript along with the reviewers' comments. The corresponding author is required to fill the copyright form and submit it to the editor.
  2. Fees for Manuscript Review and Publication:
There are no charges for manuscript review and publication. Research papers are reviewed and published free of cost. Authors receive a soft copy (PDF format) of their published paper and a print copy without any charges. However, additional copies requested by new or existing customers/authors will incur applicable fees.
  3. Access to Journal:
    • Customers/readers (institutions/individuals) can access the journal through an annual subscription fee, which provides print copies.
    • Authors receive a print copy of the journal issue in which their research papers are published via courier.
  4. Copyrights, Author Rights, Responsibilities, and Entitlements:

SIESJOM only accepts research papers containing original work by the authors. Papers that have been previously published or are under consideration elsewhere will not be accepted. The author must not include any unlawful statements or infringe upon the rights of others. The author should be the copyright owner and authorized to sign the Author Copyright Agreement.

Copyright transfer is a standard practice in journal publishing, enabling the negotiation of licenses and permissions. Authors whose articles are accepted for publication are required to sign the Author Declaration Form (ADF), assigning/transferring copyrights to SIESJOM. For research papers with multiple authors, the corresponding author is responsible for obtaining signatures from all contributors on the ADF.

The transfer of copyrights allows SIESJOM to protect authors' rights against plagiarism, copyright infringement, unauthorized use, and breach of moral rights. However, authors retain the right to use their research paper for non-commercial purposes, with proper reference to SIESJOM as the original source.

  5. Archiving: SIESJOM archives published research papers using available facilities, including the Library of SIES College of Management Studies, Navi Mumbai. Archiving includes categorization by volume, issues, authors, and "Special" Issues. The journal is committed to long-term preservation and access to its scholarly research information.
  6. Usage Rights of Subscribers:
    • Active institutional subscribers' usage rights are governed by the current agreement and subscription fee.
    • Active individual subscribers are limited to personal use only.
    • Lapsed subscribers can purchase a print copy of SIESJOM at the end of each subscription term, with usage rights similar to active subscribers.
    • Nonsubscribers can purchase articles or entire issues, with dissemination packages available at applicable prices.
  7. Retraction and Correction: SIESJOM maintains the integrity and completeness of published research papers. Changes to articles post-publication are handled as follows:

Erratum: If corrections are required, an erratum is published in the subsequent issue, linked to the corrected article, and made freely available to readers.

Retraction: If there is clear evidence of unreliable findings, misconduct, plagiarism, or unethical research, a retraction notice is issued, indicating the paper should not be considered part of the journal publication. The retracted article remains in the journal, but notice of retraction is given and linked to the original article.

Legal Infringement: In cases of legal infringement, the journal may redact or remove an article while retaining bibliographic information.

Subsequent Corrections: If a published article requires subsequent corrections, SIESJOM notifies readers, and the original article remains in the printed version. Soft copies with corrections are maintained and provided upon request.

Authors are reminded that original articles can only be removed and replaced with corrected versions within one year of the original publication date. Corrections to articles older than one year are documented in notifications by SIESJOM.

These policies ensure the highest publishing standards, uphold the reputation of authors, the journal, and its Editor and Editorial Board
