Dr. CA Geetanjali Pinto-Associate Professor, Department of Finance

I, Geetanjali Pinto, am a Chartered Accountant, with more than 22 years of cross-functional experience in the field of Finance, Accounts, Audits, Taxation and Company law matters across Industry and Academia. I have completed my Ph.D. from Symbiosis International University. My Teaching Expertise lies in core finance subjects such as Financial Accounting & Analysis, Financial Management, Cost & Management Accounting, Corporate Finance, Security Analysis & Portfolio Management, Corporate Restructuring & Valuation & Tax Planning. My research expertise lies in the area of corporate finance and use of panel data econometric tools for data analysis. I have also presented various articles at conferences & published in UGC approved journals. I have published four papers in ABDC, Web of Science and Scopus Indexed journals. Apart from this, I have submitted two more papers to Scopus indexed journals and are undergoing a review process.
My industry experience spans over 11 years in the area of accounting, Budgeting, MIS, Auditing, Direct & Indirect Taxation. I managed a team of accounting professionals at a Privately managed port of P&O Ports, U.K., a multinational company, reporting directly to the Finance Manager. In this role, I provided inputs to senior management for forecasting project & capital expenditure, presented operating budget and forecast projections in the board meetings, prepared annual budgets and revisions and updates on a monthly basis. I also independently worked on the Monthly Financial Report package of the Company to be presented at the board meetings and handled foreign remittances for the import of Equipment of the company. As a Manager - Audit, Taxation & MIS at Akali & Akali Chartered Accountants, I have independently handled finalisation of accounts, preparation of MIS, Budgeting and monthly variance reporting, Internal audit, and statutory audit for various multinational corporate clients. I also handled Direct and Indirect Taxation services for various corporate and non-corporate clients.
As an academician, I have more than 11 years of experience in teaching and research. I have authored a book on Accounting for Managers which is published and is used as Textbook for the Sem I Course – Accounting for Managers at ITM Business School, Navi Mumbai. As Head of Department- Finance at ITM I have also conducted and organised various conclaves, conferences, and events for establishing an Industry-Academia connect. I was also the Convener of the Board of Studies for the Department of Finance at ITM. In this capacity I was responsible for compiling Syllabus & Course Outline for PGDM Finance Specialisation.
